PRODUCTS
“Why do you have ‘sweetened' indicated on some product information?”
‘Sweetened’ is written at the end of our ingredient list to inform you of any product that has organic sugar or juice concentrate added.
We have significantly reduced the amount of sugar in our custard and pudding pouches, which are best served as a treat for your baby.
“Why do you add juice concentrate to some of your recipes?”
We use juice concentrate as a more natural alternative to sugar, but are currently working on removing juice concentrate from our recipes altogether.
“Why do you add citric acid and vitamin C to your recipes?”
We add vitamin C to enrich our products that may have lost some during the cooking process.
Citric acid is a weak organic acid, a natural compound found in a variety of fruits and vegetables, especially citrus fruits. It’s mainly to regulate the pH of our products and ensure it is safe for your baby to eat. Both citric acid and vitamin C have antioxidant properties and act as a mild preservative.
“Why can’t you use lemon juice in your recipes as a preservative?”
Although we could use lemon juice, we find that we have to use it much higher quantities to achieve the same affect as a small amount of citric acid, which is a naturally occurring compound found in fruits and vegetables.
If we use lemon juice in the quantities needed, it would greatly affect the taste profile of our recipes.
“Why do you have water in your recipes?”
Water is used for cooking of the raw ingredients in our products. It is also used to achieve the desired consistency that will be best for your babies to eat.
We do not drain any of the water we use in our cooking so all of the nutrients from the ingredients are retained in the pouch.
“Where are your products made?”
All our meals and purees are made in our own factory in Auckland, New Zealand.
Our snacks are made by trusted & certified organic partners.
Specifically, our rice cakes are produced in the Netherlands, our Biscuits are produced in Italy, and our teething rusks are produced in Australia.
“Where does your meat come from?”
The organic grass-fed lamb and beef in our recipes is produced right here in New Zealand by certified organic farmers.
We source chicken from certified NZ organic farmer, Bostock. Bostock are free range chicken farmers. The chickens free range under the apple trees in their orchard, and are fed organic corn. All certified organic meat is free from antibiotics and growth hormones. Their food is free from conventional pesticides and synthetic fertilisers.
“Can I feed my baby your food products from other recommended age ranges?”
As your baby grows up, you can still feed them products recommended for younger ages. The fruit and vege purees are ideal snack options for older kids. We don’t recommend you feed your young baby products from the older ranges however - we have developed our ranges so you can introduce solids at just the right time.
“Is your packaging recyclable?”
As parents, sustainability is really important to us as is food safety and the pouches we use ensure ingredients stay at their freshest.
Our pouches are made from a special mix of materials that makes it tricky to recycle as we just don’t have the required waste stream to process these in NZ & AU.
We’ve been working closely with our packaging suppliers to develop packaging materials that are fully recyclable while adhering to food safety requirements and maintaining the high quality of products we make which is the main challenge.
Our 100g & 120g baby pouches are recyclable via the Soft Plastics Program in New Zealand and REDcycle in Australia.

SAFETY
“What are your procedures for food safety?”
We have strict food safety protocol :
We use a filter to remove any impurities, then a pH and thermal processing schedule ensures each recipe is cooked safely.
Each Batch goes through a metal detector and magnet, to screen metals and finally we have an X-Ray to detect things like ceramics, stainless steel, rubber or glass!
“How do you make sure your products are good?”
Every single day, our Quality Team and Customer Service Manager try samples of every single batch cooked the day before and keep records of everything that happened during the production so that we can trace anything back to the exact time and date.
“Is your packaging BPA free?”
Yes, all of our pouches and bags are BPA free
